Dear President Biden,
Thank you for re-joining the Paris Agreement! This is a critical first step toward securing the urgent climate protection we need.
The next step is an ambitious goal and real commitment to reduce our country's carbon pollution, along with support to help the developing world adapt and transition to clean energy. As the world's richest country and largest historical emitter, we have a moral obligation to do that. The good news is we have already begun! While the previous administration was rolling back climate protections, we were continuing to reduce emissions in our houses of worship, homes, schools, and other institutions. Some of us have cut our own emissions by half or more already.
Later this year, at the U.N. climate conference in Glasgow, I urge you to make a U.S. commitment that goes beyond the Paris agreement. For the sake of our children's future and all of Creation, we must achieve at least 50% reductions by 2030 and a 100% clean energy future by 2050, while supporting developing nations.
