As people of faith and conscience, we have a duty to be good stewards of our common home. Transportation, including the vehicles we drive, is the number one source of climate pollution in the United States. We know that we will not be able to effectively combat the climate crisis without building clean renewable energy and fully electrifying our transportation system. 

Therefore, we seek to reduce climate pollution by supporting a rapid shift to 100% electric vehicles. We must move away from gasoline and diesel engines in the next decade in order to solve the climate crisis. If you’d consider a Toyota next time you buy a car, but there aren’t any battery electric Toyotas for you to buy when you visit a local dealership, keep reading!

Let’s tell Toyota together that we want to see widely available battery electric Toyota vehicles as soon as possible. 

Toyota made great environmental strides almost 25 years ago when they introduced the world to the Prius hybrid. However, Toyota is now ranked the third worst company in the world for its aggressive anti-climate lobbying. The company also actively opposed electric vehicle legislation in the US, UK, and India. While they tout the fact that they make the most “electrified” models in America, this language is misleading and dangerous when it includes cars that still run on dirty fossil fuels and pollute the air with exhaust. It’s time for Toyota to be a leader again, and step up their production of an array of 100% electric vehicles while phasing out internal combustion engines by 2035.
